The QC COVID Coalition used its Thursday meeting to provide updates on vaccine rollout and shed light on a reduction in lead testing due to the pandemic.
In the medical update, Rock Island County confirmed totals of 12,696 cases and 302 deaths, and Scott County confirmed 16,835 cases and 199 deaths.
Janet Hill, chief operating officer of the RICO Health Department, took the stage to announce the dates of the next three mass vaccination clinics: Feb. 23, March 2 and March 9.
However, she noted that due to the severe winter weather of the past week, vaccine shipments have been significantly delayed, resulting in fewer doses being available for the upcoming February 23rd clinic.
Scott County Health Department director Edward Rivers stressed the need to continue following health guidelines as the county waits for the incoming increased supply of vaccines to make its way to the county.
Rivers then transitioned into a secondary point, switching to the topic of the decrease in lead testing in children over the course of the pandemic. Health officials note that lead testing remains an important component of health and want to call attention to the issue.
Tony Knobbe, Live Lead Free QC president and member of the Scott County Board of Supervisors, then lead a presentation on the topic for the remainder of the conference.
