By Wednesday, November 4 the entire state of Illinois will be operating under resurgence mitigations to prevent further spread of COVID-19.

During his briefing on Monday, Governor J.B. Pritzker said Illinois had one of its worst weeks for COVID-19 spread since the beginning of the pandemic.

"For perspective, this is one of the worst single-week increases in regional positivity across the state since the spring," he said.

There had been no decreases in the average positivity rate in seven days across the whole state.

On Sunday, Governor J.B. Pritzker announced that Region 2 would have add restrictions due to a spike in cases.  Region 2  encompasses the Quad Cities.  and surrounding counties to the south and west.

"It's my hope that these temporary Tier 1 mitigation measures will work as they did for regions 4 and 7 in September and October to lower the number of cases and the positivity rate as soon as possible," said Governor Pritzker.

Region two was at a 9.7% positivity average on Monday. Tier 1 resurgence mitigations begin Wednesday.
