Stana Katic, known for her role as Kate Beckett on Castle, is leaving the ABC show, according to a report by US Weekly.
The announcement came Monday, April 18, 2016. Since 2009, Katic has played the NYPD captain on the show. US Weekly also reported that Lanie Parish, who plays Tamala Jones, was going to be leaving as well.
“Kate Beckett has been a beloved character on our hit series Castle for the past eight years. We are grateful for Stana Katic’s talent and dedication to the series, and we hope to continue our relationship,” the network said in a statement, according to US Weekly’s report. “Tamala Jones has also been an integral part of the series, and we are grateful she was a part of Castle.”
A spokesperson for ABC confirmed that Castle has not yet been picked up for a ninth season, according to a report by New York Daily News.
