Western Illinois University students will be paying more for their tuition this fall.
The tuition increases were approved at a meeting with the Board of Trustees on Friday, March 27, 2015. All increases will take effect in the fall of 2015, according to WIU News.
Quad Cities undergraduate students will see an increase of 1.98 percent to the University’s Cost Guarantee, which includes tuition, fees, and room and board. For students who take 15 credit hours each semester, that increase will raise their costs to about $8,805 in annual tuition. Each credit hour is $293.50.
For graduate students enrolling at WIU’s Quad City campus, costs will be about $7,767. This is for students taking 24 credit hours per year.
Students enrolling at WIU’s Macomb campus will see a slightly different increase.
Undergraduate students will pay 1.72 percent more in the University’s Cost Guarantee and graduate students will pay 1.69 percent more.
For undergraduates, this increase shakes out to about $8,805 for students enrolling this fall (the amount is based on 15 hours per semester at $239.50 per credit hour). This is $5.76 more per credit hour compared to the fall 2014 rate.
For graduate students, costs will be about $7,767 (based on 24 hour credit hours at $323 per credit hour). Graduate students paid $317 in the fall of 2014.
Since tuition and fees are guaranteed for four years, students entering in the fall of 2015 will not see any change in their total costs while they are enrolled.
The Board also approved a 10 year contract with Adidas for athletic apparel sponsorship, the annual rate of $1,380 for student health insurance, and a revision to the Employee Benefits Parental Leave Policy.
