MUSCATINE, Iowa — The first 25 students who enroll full-time in select agriculture degree programs with Eastern Iowa Community Colleges will receive an automatic $2,000 scholarship towards their tuition.
The $50,000 in scholarships was donated by the Muscatine Community College Foundation and will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.
To quality, students must register for the Agribusiness Management, Farm Management or Horticulture Associate in Applied Science (AAS) programs for the fall 2024 semester.
Agriculture programs are taught at Muscatine Community College. AAS programs can be completed in as little as two years and include paid internships.
The Agribusiness Management program focuses on the science of animal nutrition and feed. Students learn about seed, fertilizer and crop protection in addition to agricultural business and management. The Farm Management program focuses on livestock and crop production, risk management, financial management and agricultural marketing. The Horticulture program teaches greenhouse production, turf grass management, landscaping, hemp production and specialty crop production.
“Our Agriculture programs provide students with real-world, hands-on skills and experiences, which set them up for success in the workplace,” EICC Agriculture Instructor Julia Dieckman said in a press release. “This scholarship is just one more resource EICC can provide to help these students reach their career goals."
