Victim identified in Friday night Davenport shooting

26-year-old Jevin E. Gittings was killed during an altercation Friday night. Police have charged 41-year-old Wade S. Gittings in connection to the incident.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — Davenport Police have identified the victim killed in a Friday night Davenport shooting as 26-year-old Jevin E. Gittings, according to a press release. 

Around 9 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 26, Davenport police responded to a home in the 7200 block of Volquardsen Avenue to a report of a person being wounded by gunfire. Police found a man with multiple gunshot wounds who had already died from his injuries.

Police have arrested and charged 41-year-old Wade S. Gittings with first-degree murder in connection to the shooting. 

According to a criminal complaint, the suspect and victim were brothers and resided in the same home. The complaint says Wade admitted to waiting "until the victim was in the kitchen and out of sight before retrieving his own firearm from his bedroom." He then shot the victim numerous times, who was pronounced deceased by EMS personnel. According to the complaint, the suspect did not offer medical attention or call for help, adding that his mother is who called 911. 

This incident remains under investigation.
