Vermont couple arrested in Davenport with stolen RV, drugs

Deanna Corey and Jason Gofroth had been living out of an RV stolen out of Knoxville, Tennessee, for at least a month.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — Davenport Police arrested a couple from Vermont after they were found to be driving a stolen RV, in possession of a firearm as a felon and in possession of about 40 grams of crystal methamphetamine. 

Police responded to a traffic problem at Kimberly Road and Elmore Avenue on Thursday, according to documents filed with the Scott County District Court. Deanna Corey and Jason Gofroth admitted the 2020 Newmar Dutch Star RV they were driving, valued at about $415,000, was stolen. 

The RV was reported stolen out of Knoxville, Tennessee, which Davenport Police confirmed with their police department. According to court documents, Corey told investigators that she had possessed the RV for approximately three months, while Gofroth claimed he had possessed the RV for just a month. In Corey's court documents, police note that she had many belongings in the RV.

Police found about 40 grams of crystal methamphetamine in Corey's possession, separated into four packages of weights methamphetamine is known to be sold in. The weight is equal to about 400 doses.

Gofroth had a .38 caliber handgun with a record of several previous felonies in Texas and Florida from 1997 to 2005. 

Corey and Gofroth are both in jail as of Friday.
