IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — The trial for a man charged with first-degree murder in the 1995 death of an Iowa City woman has been delayed.
Steven John Klein, of Mount Vernon, now faces trial on July 25, and the trial is expected to last 10 to 15 days, The Iowa City Press-Citizen reports
Klein was arrested last July in Muscatine for the death of 38-year-old Susan Kersten. At a pre-trial hearing Friday, Klein’s public defender and Johnson County attorneys agreed to a joint motion to delay the trial.
Kersten’s body was found in 1995 in her burned-out car near Iowa City. An autopsy showed Kersten died of blunt force trauma to the head before the fire.
Authorities have said Klein was romantically linked to Kersten.
