A third person has been arrested in connection with allegations of sexual abuse of a student at a Dixon, Illinois music school.
Viva Performing Arts School vocal instructor Robert Campbell, 31, was arrested November 4, 2013 after a student told Dixon school officials Campbell sexually abused him in the summer of 2012. Online court records showed Campbell was charged with three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
Viva’s drama director, Timothy Boles, 51, was arrested November 16 in connection with the case. Boles was charged with failure to report abuse or neglect. Police said the victim told Boles about the abuse in the spring of 2013 but that Boles failed to report the allegation to the Department of Children and Family Services as required by law.
An arrest warrant was issued November 21 for Curtis Schmitt, president of the board of directors for Viva Performing Arts School. Schmitt was also charged with failure to report abuse or neglect.
Police said Schmitt, 70, was arrested at 3 p.m. Friday, December 20 in Dixon. Schmitt was released after posting bond, which was previously reported to be $5,000.
Boles and Campbell were also each previously released after posting bond.
