Third man captured after assault that left Davenport man with severe head injury

The third of three local brothers, accused of assaulting another man and leaving him severely injured, has been captured.

The third of three local brothers, accused of assaulting another man and leaving him severely injured, has been captured.

The victim, 39-year-old Joshua Sutton, suffered life-threatening head injuries and remained in a long-term healthcare facility after he was allegedly knocked to the ground and kicked several times by three men at Chorus Line, 4128 Brady Street, around 12:30 a.m. Thursday, October 15, 2015.

Police previously said Kamden Shelton was arrested within hours of the incident; his older brother, Juan Shelton, was arrested the next day after he reportedly led police on a pursuit from Rock Island into Davenport.  The pursuit ended when Juan crashed his vehicle as he exited I-280 at Rockingham Road.

Investigators continued to search for Trenton Shelton; he was apprehended by U.S. Marshals on Monday, December 14 in Clarksdale, Mississippi.

Trenton faces a federal charge for failure to register as a sex offender, according to police.  He remained wanted in Iowa for the Davenport assault incident.

Jail records showed Juan Shelton, now 32, remained held in the Scott County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash-only bond.  In addition to the charges related to the pursuit, court records showed he was charged with one count of willful injury causing serious injury and one count of attempted murder.

Court records showed 24-year-old Kamden Shelton was free after posting $10,000 bond; he was charged with one count if willful injury causing serious injury and one count of attempted murder.
