Sterling man arrested after shooting that damaged residence, vehicle

A Sterling man has been arrested and charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm in connection to a shooting earlier this week.

STERLING, Ill. — A Sterling man has been arrested and charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm in connection to a shooting earlier this week.

43-year-old Paul S. Cobane was arrested in connection to the shooting on Friday, Oct. 11. 

According to a news release, officials responded to the 1200 block of Fourth Avenue in Sterling for a report of gunshots around 11:17 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 7. Officials found a vehicle and a residence in the area that had been struck by bullets. No injuries were reported. 

Cobane has also been charged with possession of methamphetamine under five grams.

Sterling Police were assisted at the scene by the Whiteside County Sheriff’s Department, Sterling Fire Department, and the Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services.
