Several young adults, juveniles charged in Galesburg home invasion and murder

Several people have been arrested following a home invasion and the shooting of 19-year-old Dakota R. Tinkham in Galesburg, Illinois.

GALESBURG, Illinois — Several people have been arrested following a home invasion and the shooting of 19-year-old Dakota R. Tinkham in Galesburg, Illinois.

Shortly before midnight on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 police got the report of “a possible robbery that had just occurred” in the 1100 block of Emery Street, according to a statement from Cpt. Rod Riggs.

When police got to the home, they found Tinkham unresponsive in a bedroom suffering a gunshot wound, the statement said.  He was pronounced dead there in his home.

The home invasion and Tinkham's death remain under investigation  and anyone with more information is asked to call the Galesburg Police Department at 309-343-9151.

As of Friday, March 18 at 9:30 a.m., all the suspects wanted in the shooting death of Tinkham were in custody, police said in a statement.  All the adult suspects were held in the Knox County Jail waiting appearances. The following people were in custody and were awaiting court appearances.

  • Miguel A. Romo, 19, of Galesburg has been charged with home invasion, armed robbery and murder.
  • Raymond M. Gable, 21, of Galesburg has been charged with home invasion and armed robbery.
  • An unidentified 16-year-old is being held at the Mary Davis Home on charges of home invasion, armed robbery and murder.
  • Jovendia C. Williams, 18, of Galesburg is charged with home invasion, armed robbery and murder. Williams' bond was set at $1 million.
  • Charles E. Posey, 18, of Alexis is charged with home invasion and armed robbery. Posey's bond was set at $1 million.
  • Dalton B. McKee, 20, of Monmouth is charged with home invasion and armed robbery.  McKee's bond was set at $1 million.
  • An unidentified 17-year-old is charged with home invasion, armed robbery and murder.
