SCOTT COUNTY, Iowa — The Scott County Sheriff's Office recently conducted sex offender compliance checks for registered offenders and successfully contacted all 551 offenders residing in or regularly visiting the county for work or school, according to a press release.
Between Oct. 27-30, the sheriff's office contacted offenders in person to verify their compliance with legal conditions as offenders. A total of 14 registered sex offenders were found to have been non-compliant out of a total of 508 registered sex offenders residing in Scott County and 43 registered offenders who work or attend school in the county but live outside of it.
Seven offenders were arrested for outstanding warrants or registry violations, with 22 cases under follow-up investigation for potential violations.
