Scott County man charged with murder following car crash

The Scott County Sheriff's Office has charged a man with first-degree murder after discovering a woman dead in Park View, Iowa.

SCOTT COUNTY, Iowa — The Scott County Sheriff's Office has charged a man with first-degree murder after discovering a woman dead in Park View, Iowa.

The Sheriff's Office responded to a car accident with injury near the intersection of 90th Street and Harrison Street in Mt. Joy, near the Mt. Joy Airport entrance. Authorities identified Christopher Behal of Park View as the driver of the vehicle. 

During the accident investigation, authorities received information that led to the discovery of a woman dead in Park View. After being released from a local hospital, Behal was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, assault while participating in a felony, going armed with intent, domestic abuse assault while displaying or using a weapon and domestic abuse assault with intent to inflict serious injury.

It's not clear what information from the accident investigation tipped off authorities to the discovery of the victim. 

The victim has not been named pending notification of the family, but according to court documents, the victim was in a relationship and lived with Behal.

This case is under investigation and there is no additional information available.
