PEORIA COUNTY, Ill — An Ohio man is wanted in connection to a kidnapping in Peoria, Illinois after authorities said he stole a vehicle with a 3-year-old child inside.

Police responded to a report of a stolen vehicle with a child inside around 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4. The child was found safe a short time later at a local gas station, but 45-year-old Victor E. Farris, the man who police say kidnapped the toddler, is still on the run.

Police said Farris stole the vehicle from the 2000 block of W. Pioneer Parkway. Officials located the stolen vehicle Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities were searching for Farris on Thursday in the area of Princeville in northwestern Peoria County. They said Farris dropped his ID on the Rock Island Trail during a foot chase, allowing them to identify him.

According to the Peoria County Sheriff's Office, Farris has an extensive violent history and is considered very dangerous. If you have any information regarding Farris' whereabouts, please contact the Peoria Police Department at (309) 673-4521 or Crime Stoppers at (309) 673-9000.
