DAVENPORT, Iowa — One person is in custody after Davenport police investigated a shots fired call Saturday night, July 9.
Austin Young, 23, of Davenport is charged with assault on a peace officer and possession of marijuana. Young was a passenger in a vehicle that was shot at near Riverside Liquor Store on E. River Drive around 10:30 p.m.
A victim was at the location, but was uninjured and refused medical treatment. The victim's vehicle had been hit several times with bullets.
Police said 11 shell casings were found in the parking lot of the store. Police say the victim had gotten into a verbal fight with another person in the store's parking lot just before the shooting.
Young, who was in the victim's vehicle, was taken into custody once it was learned he had outstanding warrants in Muscatine County for criminal mischief, public intoxication and disturbing the peace. Upon arrest, police found approximately 2.75 grams of marijuana in his pocket.
While in custody, he spit into an officer's face and arm.
Young was released on bond early Sunday morning.
