MUSCATINE COUNTY, Iowa — A Davenport man was arrested after leading Muscatine County law enforcement officers on a high-speed chase on Sunday, July 7, according to a news release.
The Muscatine County Sheriff's Office said a deputy attempted to stop a motorcyclist around 7 p.m. near the intersection of Taylor Avenue and 155th Street for a traffic violation, but the motorcyclist failed to stop.
Officials said the motorcyclist continued south on Taylor Avenue and led officials onto Highway 61 and into the City of Muscatine.
The motorcyclist eventually crashed on East 2nd Street and fled the crash scene on foot, according to officials. The suspect then attempted to escape by entering the Mad Creek flood waters but was eventually apprehended by authorities.
The motorcyclist was identified as 30-year-old Michael Edward Zahn, of Davenport. Zahn was arrested and charged with driving while barred and eluding police at a speed 25 miles over the speed limit.
