Illinois State Police investigate 'officer involved death' in LaSalle County

​As officials attempted to arrest the suspect, the suspect grabbed a firearm and fatally shot themself, according to the LaSalle County Sheriff's Office.

LASALLE COUNTY, Ill. — The Illinois State Police is investigating what they are calling an "officer involved death" in LaSalle County.

According to a LaSalle County Sheriff's Office news release, officials were serving an arrest warrant for an Internet Crimes Against Children investigation on Thursday, Nov. 21 in the 4300 block of East 2175th Road in Sheridan when deputies entered the residence and made contact with the suspect. 

As officials attempted to place the suspect into custody, the suspect grabbed a firearm and fatally shot themself in the head, according to the new release. 

Officials said that deputies didn't fire any rounds. The suspect died as a result of their injuries.

An autopsy was scheduled to be performed Friday in McLean County.
