CEDAR RAPIDS — Cedar Rapids school officials say officers were called to the Jefferson High School for a medical situation around 8 am. The district says a male student was found outside with what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital.
School officials say the school is secure and they do not believe there is any threat to students or staff. The school day will continue on an adjusted schedule. Counselors will be at the school all day.
If parents wish to pick up their student early, they are supposed to come to the main office.
