An inmate serving a sentence for possession of cocaine escaped from the East Moline Correctional Center Wednesday, August 1, 2012.

David Stodolny, 41, began serving a five-year prison sentence March 2, 2012 after he was convicted in McHenry County for possessing 15 or more grams of cocaine. 

A spokesperson for the Illinois Department of Corrections said Stodolny escaped from the East Moline Correctional Center at 8:50 a.m.  He was apprehended about a quarter-mile from the facility just before 10 a.m.

“The department takes escape incidents extremely seriously and is actively investigating the circumstances behind this incident,” the DOC spokesperson said, “IDOC’s top priority is the safety and security of facilities and the general public and the department will continue to reinforce security related policies during the ongoing investigation.”
