MONMOUTH, Ill. — A Galesburg martial arts coach has been arrested and charged with sexual assault, stemming from incidents involving minors, according to a press release from Warren County State's Attorney Tom Siegel.
On Nov. 2, Beau W. Admire, 42, was arrested in Knox County on a $100,000 warrant for two counts of criminal sexual assault and one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.
Admire was released after posting a cash bond. His first appearance in Warren County court is scheduled for Dec. 2 at 9:30 a.m.
The charges stem from three separate incidents that allegedly took place in Monmouth.
Admire is the coach of Badger Combatives, a gym specializing in self-defense, located at 313 E. Main Street, Galesburg.
Law enforcement officials began investigating the case in September, according to a police report obtained by News 8.
Multiple former students alleged that Admire often showed favoritism to young female students, making inappropriate comments like, "I can't wait until she turns 18."
According to one victim's account, Admire first started showing interest in her with flirty text messages. She said that other students were not happy with the level of favoritism that Admire was showing her.
She alleged that on one occasion, she attended a UFC fight party hosted by Admire. She said that she was given alcohol before Admire attempted to lure her into a room. She provided investigators with photos from the party.
Another student alleged that Admire asked her to stay with him for a week so that he could help her cut weight for an upcoming fight. She told police that Admire talked about taking provocative pictures of her, saying that she would need to take the photos in order to have a future in MMA.
A third claimant says that Admire would punish those who disobeyed his dress code by forcing them to grapple with bigger men at the gym. She also alleged that Admire would put girls in odd positions when grappling with them, specifically positions that would not be used during a match.
A fourth claimant said that Admire was mentally, physically and sexually abusive during a relationship that yielded two children. She said that Admire would prevent her from leaving, taking her to the ground and holding her down if she didn't do what he wanted. She recalled an instance in the Quad Cities in which she says she found Admire having sex with a 16-year-old inside a friend's residence.
A fifth claimant said that Admire offered private lessons or discounted lessons to younger girls, and often showed favoritism toward girl students. She alleged that Admire would ask her to have sex with him and other students.
She said that Admire would make comments about being unable to wait until some of the girls turned 18. She alleged that Admire was sexually abusive and that Admire threatened to kill her and her family on several occasions.
A sixth person, who had a long-term relationship with Admire, said that Admire was fired from a job at Monmouth's Shopko after he took a female employee into a room and kissed her.
She said that they moved in together at some point, and Admire was physically abusive, kicking her in the legs and arms and blocking the doorway so that she couldn't leave. She alleged that on one occasion, Admire took a headlamp and started hitting her in the legs with it.
