Former Chick-fil-A manager pleads guilty of wire fraud after embezzling more than $140,000 from restaurant

According to court documents, Timothy Hill was the manager at the MSP location when he embezzled about $144K between September 2022 and October 2023.

ST PAUL, Minn. — A 36-year-old Woodbury man pleaded guilty wire fraud after embezzling more than $140,000 from a Chick-fil-A location he was managing, according to U.S. Attorney Andrew Luger.

Timothy Michael Hill, 36, was the manager at the Chick-fil-A at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport when court documents say he embezzled about $144,000 between September 2022 and October 2023. A sentencing date will be scheduled at a later time.

As a manager, Hill was responsible for making daily cash deposits for the restaurant at a safe deposit box, according to the court documents. The indictment detailed how Hill attempted to conceal the embezzlement, including how he used future cash receipts to try and cover up some of the money he pocketed.

The court documents say Hill would keep some or all of the cash he was supposed to deposit, and then used future cash receipts to make it appear that the deposits were delayed. Hill would also send emails to the company's accounting personnel to create the impression that he was belatedly depositing cash from earlier dates.

Court documents go on to say he spent the money on jewelry, online sports betting and an adult website, among other things. The indictment says he also sent tens of thousands of dollars through CashApp to various individuals, including other airport workers, for personal photos and videos.
