ELDRIDGE, Iowa — An Eldridge man is accused of beating his live-in girlfriend unconscious and then dragging her into their apartment.
Around 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, officials responded to an apartment complex on Park View Drive in Eldridge.
43-year-old Joseph Hollingshed told officers that his girlfriend was not in their apartment, but police say she emerged from the bathroom with a broken nose, fractured jaw and eye socket, and possibly a brain bleed.
A criminal complaint says that Hollingshed punched the victim multiple times to the point that she became unconscious outside the apartment complex, before dragging her into their apartment unit. The victim told officials that she believed she was going to be killed by Hollingshed.
Hollingshed is charged with felony kidnapping and domestic assault.
