A vocal music teacher employed by a school in Dixon, Illinois faces allegations of sexual abuse involving a 16-year-old boy.
A statement from the Dixon Police Department said administrators in the Dixon Public Schools district got an email from the alleged victim, accusing 31-year-old Robert Campbell of sexual abuse that reportedly happened in the summer of 2012.
School superintendent Michael Juenger contacted Dixon Police Chief Danny Langloss Jr. and shared the email with him Sunday, November 3, 2013.
Langloss said the alleged abuse reportedly happened at Viva Performing Arts School in Dixon, where Campbell is a vocal music instructor.
Campbell’s biography posted on the school’s website said he is also director of the Chancel Choir at the First Congregational Church in DeKalb, Illinois. That same bio says Campbell “recently made his directorial debut with the first Reagan Middle School musical, ‘Aladdin.'”
Police said Campbell was arrested just after 5 p.m. Monday, November 4, 2013. Online court records show he was charged with three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. The court ordered Campbell to have no contact with the alleged victim, the alleged victim’s family or anyone under the age of 18.
Jail records indicate Campbell was released from the Lee County Jail after he made his initial court appearance and posted 10% of his $15,000 bond.
