Man charged with murdering family member in Davenport

Police have arrested and charged 41-year-old Wade S. Gittings after they say he shot and killed a family member during an altercation.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — Davenport police have arrested a man in connection to a Friday night shooting that left one person dead.

Shortly after 9 p.m., Davenport police responded to a home in the 7200 block of Volquardsen Avenue to a report of a person being wounded by gunfire. Police found a man with multiple gunshot wounds who had already died from his injuries.

A preliminary investigation indicated that an argument between family members led to the shooting. 

Police have arrested and charged 41-year-old Wade S. Gittings with first-degree murder in connection to the shooting.

This incident remains under investigation.
