CLINTON, Iowa — A Davenport couple was given a suspended prison sentence after pleading guilty to stealing money from a relative.

According to the Clinton County Attorney's Office, an investigation was opened into 52-year-old Lance Seastrand and 56-year-old Staci Seastrand of Davenport after a family member claimed the couple had stolen more than $200,000 from the victim's bank account and IRA.

In March 2024, investigators said they received information that Lance had withdrawn slightly more than $170,000 from the victim's insurance annuity. Investigators concluded that Lance had forged documents to submit to the insurance company in order to conduct the withdrawals.

Lance pled guilty to three counts of second-degree theft, one count of fraudulent submissions to an insurer and one count of forgery. Staci pled guilty to three counts of second-degree theft. Both were given a five-year suspended prison sentence, three years of supervised probation and ordered to pay a $1,025 fine. They must also pay $150,000 in restitution to the victim.

A no-contact order is also in effect between the Seastrands and the victim for five years.
