CAMANCHE, Iowa – The former treasurer of the Camanche Junior Baseball League is accused of taking more than $10,000 from the organization.
Michael McManus, 41, was charged March 14, 2016, with first-degree theft. Investigators said money was missing during McManus tenure as treasurer for the Camanche Junior Baseball League from 2011 until October 2015, according to a statement from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation.
“The investigation determined that McManus misappropriated Camanche Junior Baseball funds for personal gain,” the statement said.
“Theft in the first degree constitutes a situation where a defendant unlawfully and willfully misappropriates property exceeding $10,000 in value,” the statement said.
The charge is a felony.
Court records showed McManus posted $10,000 cash bond and was released from the Clinton County Jail on Tuesday, March 15. He has pleaded not guilty to the charge, and he was scheduled to appear in court April 1 and April 7.
