2nd suspect arrested following fatal Burlington shooting

A second suspect has been arrested in connection to a fatal Burlington shooting that left one man dead in November.

BURLINGTON, Iowa — A second suspect has been arrested in connection to a fatal Burlington shooting that left one man dead in November.

According to the Burlington Police Department, Kathryn F. Cable was taken into custody on Monday, Dec. 16 and faces a charge of accessory after the fact to first-degree murder.

According to a criminal complaint, Burlington police responded to a residence in the 500 block of S 7th Street at 10:19 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24 for a reported shooting. First responders found two victims with gunshot wounds. One of the victims, 28-year-old Alondro Lee Pratt, of Racine, Wisconsin, was pronounced dead at the scene.

An autopsy revealed that Pratt was shot four times, including in the chest. A second victim was shot in the leg and transported to a regional hospital to be treated for their injuries.

Officials identified 18-year-old Shermando Harper as the shooter. Harper was arrested by U.S. Marshals in Chicago on Monday, Dec. 2 on charges of first-degree murder and attempted murder. 

The shooting occurred amid an ongoing dispute between two groups.  The criminal complaint states that as the two groups met, Harper emerged from the residence and fired at the victims. 

Harper is being held in the Des Moines County Jail.
