A Bettendorf massage therapist has been charged with third-degree sexual abuse.

According to police records, 50-year-old Ahmed Elkhaldy allegedly sexually assaulted a client during a visit to his office on Nov. 7, 2023. A criminal complaint shows this was located in a suite at 2395 Tech Dr. in Bettendorf at the time of the alleged crime. The victim told police that she felt her life was in danger during the encounter at Elkhaldy's office due to its lack of windows and the only exit being locked.

Elkhaldy was arrested on Tuesday, July 24 and booked into the Scott County Jail. He posted a $10,000 bond and was released. He is due in court for an arraignment hearing on Aug. 15.
