DAVENPORT, Iowa — Two Davenport teens have been charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting someone in the neck at point-blank range.
According to criminal complaints, 18-year-old Jonathan Thorson and 19-year-old Tavion Ruff met with their victim in a car parked on the 7200 block of Jebens Avenue in Davenport around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27.
The suspects allegedly attempted to steal two ounces of marijuana from the victim, and police believe Thorson used a handgun to fire three shots into the victim from the back seat of the car, one of which hit them in the neck.
Thorson and Ruff fled to an apartment on the 7200 block of Hillandale Road, according to arrest records. Police said the victim received life-threatening injuries and required emergency surgery.
Ruff and Thorson were arrested and booked into the Scott County Jail on Wednesday, Nov. 6. Both are being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond. Both were charged with the following:
- Attempted murder
- First-degree robbery
- Intimidation with a dangerous weapon
- Willful injury causing serious injury
- Conspiracy to commit forcible felony
- Assault while displaying a dangerous weapon
