4 years later: The search continues for information in Corey Harrell Jr's death

It's been four years since Corey Harrell Jr. was shot and killed in front of Moline City Hall, and the reward for information has increased to $20,000.

MOLINE, Ill. — It's been four years since Corey Harrell Jr. was shot and killed in downtown Moline, and police aren't much closer to making an arrest in the case.

Then-22-year-old Harrell Jr. was killed on the morning of Oct. 31, 2018 after he was shot while driving his car in front of Moline City hall, which is also right across the street from the police station.

In October 2021, three persons of interest were named in the case: 24-year-old Alonzo Cole, 22-year-old Thomas Elijah-Hughes and 26-year-old Preston Orr, and police are still searching for information that might lead to an arrest.

On the fourth anniversary of his death, his family held a remembrance walk outside Moline City Hall at 10 a.m.

Crime Stoppers of the Quad Cities increased the information reward to its maximum of $2,500 alongside an additional $17,500 in donations bringing the total compensation to $20,000. The $17,500 reward is being offered through Dec. 31.

Police ask anyone who may have seen the incident, which occurred in broad daylight, to speak up and bring new information to investigators.
