2 men arrested in Oklahoma City for September death of Davenport 17-year-old

Angel Lopez Jr., 17, died back in September after he was allegedly shot in the chest by another 17-year-old.

OKLAHOMA CITY — Two Quad City men have been arrested in Oklahoma City in connection to the Sept. 18 homicide of 17-year-old Angel Lopez Jr. in Rock Island, according to a news release.

Corion Thomas, 17, of East Moline was arrested for first-degree murder, with a bond set at $500,000. Also arrested is 22-year-old Dayvon J. Q. Woods-Jackson of Rock Island, charged with two counts of obstruction of justice and bond set at $40,000.

Both suspects are currently being detained in Oklahoma City as they await extradition to Illinois. 

On Sept. 18 at 7:58 p.m., Rock Island police responded to the 1300 block of 3rd Avenue scene at to a call of a person with a gunshot wound. Responding officers located 17-year-old Lopez suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died.
