Local artists were asked to redesign some of their favorite children's stories, and the Putnam Museum curator Christine Chandler is putting the hard work of Quad City artists on display.

The new exhibit titled "Tails from Tales: Storybook Beasts!" is making its debut Nov. 18. Nineteen artists from the Quad Cities contributed artwork that will be on display. The Giant Screen theater will also offer a free showing of the movie "Lyle, Lyle Crocodile."

When families enter the gallery for this exhibit, there will be a collection of children's story books tucked away in a reading nook. Parents and children can relax in this space and share some of their favorite stories, or find new books to enjoy.

Admission to the museum will be required to partake in the gallery, and will cost $10 for children and $12 for adults, or families that have Rivershare library cards can check out passes that will waive admission fees. The exhibit will run from Nov. 18 until May 28.
