Moline High School students participate in annual donut eating contest for a good cause

The campaign helps families in need during the winter season.

MOLINE, Ill. — Moline-Coal Valley School District families in need will find some relief after the district kickstarted its annual Share Joys campaign this year.

The Share Joys festivities began with a donut-eating contest on Wednesday, Nov 29 at 7:15 a.m. Participating students dressed up in costumes and competed to see who could down the most donuts.

Students will work on various activities between Dec. 4 through 8 to raise funds for the 2023 Share Joys campaign.

Since the school launched the Share Joys fundraiser, students have raised over $1.4 million. Last year, the fundraiser contributed $55,415. With these funds, 383 students within the district were able to shop for new clothes for the holidays.

The district is asking the community to once again help make the holidays a little brighter for students in need by donating to the cause. People can donate to the Share Joys campaign here, or make checks out to Moline High School Share Joys to be sent to Moline High School, 3600 - Avenue of the Cities, Moline, IL 61265.
