BURLINGTON, Iowa — Around 1:50 a.m. on Monday, the Burlington Fire Department received a call of a structure fire at a mobile home trailer.
Upon arrival, flames were visibly seen around the trailer. Three residents were awake at the time of the fire and were able to escape safely. Firefighters found no working smoke alarms in the trailer and deemed the location a total loss.
Firefighters were able to successfully revive a family cat.
According to first responders, the fire was caused by improperly discarded smoking material and was ruled an accident.
