MATTOON, Ill. — John Deere is opening up a new distribution facility in southern Illinois with plans to open this spring.
The Moline-based farm equipment manufacturer confirmed with News 8 Thursday morning that the new facility will be in Mattoon, about an hour south of Champaign.
The company is expanding its warehousing, packaging and logistics operations to help accommodate its ongoing growth in its Aftermarket & Consumer Support business.
This new facility will help the company's ability to receive material directly from suppliers and enable it to ship outbound directly to dealers. The center will be a secondary parts distribution facility for the U.S. network. The primary parts distribution center is closer to the Quad Cities, right in Milan.
This news comes as John Deere reports another record in net sales and earnings. They were the highest in company history, sitting at $52.6 billion while the net income was $7.1 billion for 2022.
