The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas continues to show off the latest innovations in technology, ranging from culinary tools to new modes of transportation. Roughly 130,000 people and over 4,000 businesses, including the John Deere Operations Center in Moline, flocked to the Las Vegas Convention Center to see which companies are pushing technological boundaries.
This year marks the fifth year that John Deere has earned the Innovation Award in the Sustainability, Eco-Design and Smart Energy category for their digital cloud platform. The program allows farmers to improve their yearly output by receiving data on carbon density and fuel emissions at any time.
“Farmers care deeply about their land and work to manage it sustainably because it’s their livelihood and their legacy,” Jahmy Hindman, a John Deere technology officer, said. “The new Sustainability Tools within the John Deere Operations Center allow farmers better visibility into their farming practices so they can understand the impact their decisions have on the sustainability of their operations."
Their technology also allows growers to monitor their soil health and optimize their crop quality as the growing season progresses.
The CES has selected John Deere for this award for the past five years and says their decision is based on a business that facilitates environmentally friendly actions like using clean energy, reducing harmful chemicals and promoting renewable resources.
