Prem Nepal, the former owner of "Phill," the affectionately named water buffalo that captured the hearts of Iowans when he went on his fugitive campaign in Pleasant Hill at the end of August, pleaded guilty to the charge of Animal at Large Friday.
The charge carries a court ordered fine of $105 and is holding Nepal liable for any damage or injuries caused.
Phill was on the loose for five days before being captured and was turned over to authorities by Nepal.
After treatment for a gunshot wound, the water buffalo was sent to Iowa Farm Sanctuary to live out the rest of his days.
