Sharing events throughout the Quad Cities in this week's weekend rundown: Oct. 27 to Oct. 29

There are many family-friendly events going on this weekend, and we've brought in Dani Howe from WLLR to break it down.

The weekend is officially here, and WQAD and WLLR have your top events to check out for Oct. 27 to Oct. 29.

Good Morning Quad Cities' David Bohlman and Devin Brooks were joined by WLLR's Dani Howe Thursday morning to go over the must-see events.

Here's your rundown:

Boo at the Zoo

Location: Niabi Zoo, 13010 Niabi Zoo Rd., Coal Valley
Dates and Times: Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 28 & 29 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Head over to Niabi Zoo for some Halloween fun this weekend! Taking place Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Boo at the Zoo features local businesses that will be handing out treats to attendees. All the festivities inside are included with zoo admission. Make sure you stop by WQAD's booth for some goodies as well! WQAD is a proud sponsor of the annual event.

National Prescription Drug Takeback Day

Location: Find the closest drop-off location on the DEA's website
Date and Time: Saturday, Oct. 28 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

This weekend event is not exclusive to the Quad Cities area. Across the country on Saturday, local agencies will be participating in the National Prescription Drug Take Back Day through the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA). Find the closest drop-off location to turn in old medications on the DEA's Take Back Day website. Collections will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

Hockey is for Her Night with QC Storm

Location: Vibrant Arena at the MARK, 1201 River Dr., Moline
Date and Time: Saturday, Oct. 28 at 7:10 p.m. 

Hockey season is underway in the Quad Cities and the QC Storm is putting on a special event at this Saturday's game. Hockey is for Her will highlight the role of women in the winter sport. The event will feature the work women do in the Quad Cities area. Not only that, attendees have the option to meet gold medalist Hilary Knight, who plays for the United States Women's Hockey team. 

The Nightmare Before Christmas at the Adler Theatre

Location: Adler Theatre, 136 E. 3rd St., Davenport
Date and Time: Saturday, Oct. 28 at 7:30 p.m. with a pre-concert trick or treat from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. 

On Saturday, experience a Halloween classic in a whole new way. The Quad City Symphony Orchestra will be putting on The Nightmare Before Christmas at the Adler Theatre in Davenport. While you watch the movie on the big screen, the orchestra will play the famous songs live for attendees. Arrive early for some trick-or-treating and Halloween fun before the show.
