94-year-old steam train will go through downtown Davenport on May 10

The public is invited free of charge to see The Empress 2816, a 4-6-4 Hudson-type steam locomotive, when it comes through Davenport on Friday, May 10.

DAVENPORT, Iowa — Canadian Pacific Kansas City's (CPKC) Final Spike Anniversary Steam Tour will roll into Davenport on May 10. The event is free of charge for everyone and all ages are welcome. 

The locomotive dates back to 1930 and will be on display from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, May 10 at Quinlan Court, 101 East River Dr. 

The tour started on April 24 at CPKC's headquarters in Calgary, Canada. It's traveling south through the states before it reaches its last stop in Mexico City, Mexico on June 4. 

The Empress 2816 is a 4-6-4 Hudson-type steam locomotive. People will be able to get up close to the historic train, learn about the CPKC's railway history and ride on the Puffer Belly Express mini-train, a quarter-scale steam locomotive model.
