MOLINE, Ill. — The weekend is officially here, and WQAD and WLLR have your top events to check out for Jan. 12-14.
Good Morning Quad Cities' Andrew Stutzke and Devin Brooks were joined by WLLR's Dani Howe Thursday morning to go over the must-see events.
Here's your rundown:
Davenport was hoping to kick off its annual Icestravaganza at the Freight House on Friday, Jan. 12, but due to upcoming winter weather, the Downtown Davenport Partnership chose to cancel the event.
“We love Icestravaganza so much, but expected conditions are simply unsafe to host the event this year,” Kyle Carter, the executive director of the Downtown Davenport Partnership, said in a press release.
However, there's still a way to enjoy the frozen spectacle. Several of the event's signature ice sculptures are already completed and will remain on display when the weather clears up.
If you're looking for some indoor family fun after the high winds pass through, the QCCA Expo Center is hosting a farm show beginning on Sunday, Jan. 14, and running through Tuesday, Jan. 16. Kids will be able to get an up-close look at all sorts of agricultural equipment.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday. Admission is free.
Kids in sixth grade and below are invited to the Moline Public Library on Saturday, Jan. 13 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., when the library will be hosting "Game On!" in the children's area.
Participants will be able to trek across the Candyland-inspired game board set up throughout the department and play all sorts of games and activities while making their way across the path. Families can also stop by the Children's Desk for a Bookopoly Winter Reading game board, which families will be able to take home for additional fun all winter long.
The event is free to attend.
