Events throughout the Quad Cities this weekend

There are many family-friendly events going on this weekend, and we've brought in Dani Howe from WLLR to break it down.

MOLINE, Ill. — The weekend is officially here, and WQAD and WLLR have your top events to check out for Nov. 10-12.

Good Morning Quad Cities' David Bohlman and Charles Hart were joined by WLLR's Dani Howe Thursday morning to go over the must-see events.

Here's your rundown:

Holiday Hop in Moline Centre

Get a head start on your holiday shopping by paying a visit to Moline Centre this weekend!

Businesses in downtown Moline are offering holiday-themed events, specials and other activities on Nov. 10 and 11. You can even hop a ride on the holiday trolley to take you between stores throughout the festivities. The trolley runs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday. You can find a list of everywhere the trolley will be stopping, as well as what deals are available at those stops, right here.

Veterans Day Ceremony at the Rock Island Arsenal

Quad Citizens wanting to honor their veterans this weekend can pay a visit to the Rock Island Arsenal, where service members will be hosting a Veterans Day event at the Rock Island National Cemetery.

The ceremony will include a wreath-laying and an honors salute. It will run from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11.

The event is free to attend.

Toys for Tots at Vibrant Arena

If you're already feeling ready for the season of giving, members of the U.S. Marines will be at Vibrant Arena on Saturday, collecting donations for Toys for Tots before the Quad Cities Storm faces off against Fayetteville.

Donations will be collected at the arena from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and after the puck drops they'll head over to Pour Boys in Moline to keep the drive going.

Anyone donating is asked for the toys to be new and unwrapped.

Sherrard Fire & Rescue Soup Supper

Finally, if nothing sounds better than a warm meal for the weekend, Sherrard Fire & Rescue has you covered.

Firefighters will be hosting their 21st annual soup supper from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday at the Sherrard Fire Station. There will be an assortment of soups, stews, chilis, breads and desserts for attendees to dine on.

The cost of admission is a free-will donation. There will also be raffle items available for attendees to try and win.
