MOLINE, Ill. — The weekend is officially here, and WQAD and WLLR have your top events to check out for July 7-9.
Good Morning Quad Cities' David Bohlman and Nina Burns were joined by WLLR's Dani Howe Thursday morning to go over the must-see events.
Here's your rundown:
Take a step back in time at Night Cap Listening Lounge as the bar hosts a speakeasy night.
Kicking off at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24, the bar will be filled with appropriate music and drinks to help party-goers get into the spirit of the decade. 20's attire is encouraged!
However, there's something you'll want to know before planning your trip; true to the event's name, you'll need to figure out the password in order to get in and enjoy the festivities. Night Cap has been sharing clues on their Facebook page to help amateur sleuths solve the mystery. If you think you've figured it out, then ignore the bar's front door, come through the alley, knock twice and give the password at the door.
We may have had some warmer weather recently, but that won't be stopping runners from around the Quad Cities from enjoying a run out in the elements this weekend.
On Saturday, Feb. 24, runners will gather at the shelter in Middle Park Lagoon at 1 p.m. to start their journey, which will take them two miles to the border between Davenport and Bettendorf and then back to their starting point. The race isn't timed; just show up and have a good time.
Tickets cost $20 if you register in advance and $30 for same-day registration. Proceeds help the Bettendorf Police Department fund their Free Bike Safety Helmet Program. You'll also get a free Frosty Four beanie for making the trek.
If you'd like to have fun while doing some good, Davenport Kiwanis has an opportunity you'll love.
On Friday, Feb. 23, the organization is hosting a trivia night at the Hickory Creek Event Center benefitting Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools. Attendees are welcome to bring their own snacks, and a cash bar will be available onsite, as well. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the trivia begins an hour later at 7 p.m.
Tickets cost $15 per person or $100 for a table of eight people and can be purchased here.
Country music stars Sawyer Brown will be bringing their decades of musical experience to the Quad Cities with a Saturday night performance at Rhythm City Casino. The band has played more than 4,500 shows all across the country.
The music kicks off at 8 p.m. and is expected to run until 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24. All ages are welcome to come join the fun.
Ticket prices range from $30 to $60.
