Fall events in the Quad Cities this weekend Oct. 20-22

There are many family-friendly events going on this weekend, and we've brought in Dani Howe from WLLR to break it down.

MOLINE, Ill. — The weekend is officially here, and WQAD and WLLR have your top events to check out for Oct. 19 to 22.

Good Morning Quad Cities' David Bohlman and Devin Brooks were joined by WLLR's Dani Howe Thursday morning to go over the must-see events.

Here's your rundown:

Opening Night of Quad City Storm Hockey

This Saturday is the opening night game for the Quad City Storm as they prepare to take on the Peoria Rivermen.

Earlier this week, News 8 reporter Charles Hart spoke with the team's president Brian Rothenberger about the upcoming 2023 season. He said watching the team practice this week he's noted a shift in the team dynamic, and how there's this hunger for the team to succeed this year.

The puck will drop on the season opener at 7:10 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 21, and there will be a pregame concert held in the parking lot prior to the game.

Putnam Museum's Civil Rights Film

The Putnam Museum is gearing up for a feature film about the personal experiences of Quad Citizens in the 1960s as they fought for civil rights. The premier takes place on Sunday, Oct. 22.

"This film is a powerful portrayal of the struggles and triumphs of civil rights activists and serves as an inspiring call to action for all those who believe in equality and justice," according to a press release.

After the 15-minute film wraps up, there will be a panel of social justice organizations and film stars to answer questions. Doors open to the movie at 2 p.m.

QC Botanical Center's 'Not So Scary' Walk

Families looking for a family-friendly way to celebrate Halloween can take a walk through the Quad City Botanical Center. This marks the 8th annual Not So Scary walk at the botanical center and will take participants through their indoor and outdoor gardens.

Along the way, kids may find little frogs or spiders dangling from the trees, and may even see the Halloween train making the rounds.

Tickets for members are free, and general admission is $9 for adults 16-plus. Youth ages 2 to 15 are $6 and toddlers under 2 are free.

Thursday, Oct .19 is a night only for center members, from 6 to 8 p.m. The days open for the public are Friday, Oct. 20, Thursday, Oct. 26, and Saturday, Oct. 28. The walks start at 6, 6:30, 7, and 7:30 p.m. each of those days.
