DAVENPORT, Iowa — As Americans get older it can be harder for them to take care of themselves, and with the cost of healthcare increasing across the U.S., affording outpatient treatments and nursing homes can be a struggle. An organization is opening its doors and showcasing the businesses available to help give older Americans some of their independence back.
Coming to Davenport is the 12th annual Caregivers Conference, featuring over 30 vendors ranging from care services to mental health clinics and technology resources.
"We are excited to offer this free conference to caregivers and older Americans in the Quad Cities," said Devin Hansen, the communications and marketing manager at Milestones AAA. "This event is a great opportunity to learn about the latest resources and information available to caregivers and older adults, and to connect with other caregivers in the community."
This event will also feature keynote speakers who will talk about current research in people with dementia and what legal steps families have when they become a caregiver to an older relative.
Doors at the Goldleaf Banquet Center will open at 8 a.m. and is free to the public. Free refreshments will also be available during the event.
