MOLINE, Ill. — The weekend is almost here, and WQAD and WLLR have your top events to check out for Nov. 17-19.
Good Morning Quad Cities' David Bohlman and Devin Brooks were joined by WLLR's Dani Howe Thursday morning to go over the must-see events.
Here's your rundown:
The annual Festival of Trees parade is coming back to Davenport to kick off the winter holidays.
Parade organizers say the event will start at 10 a.m. on Nov. 18 and will begin at the corner of Pershing and 3rd Street before heading west towards Scott Street.
Local schools and organizations like John Deere and high school cheer teams will have spots in the parade this year.
Families can line the streets as floats and large inflatables make their way throughout downtown Davenport. This event does not have a price tag to attend.
The QC Botanical Center in Rock Island is unveiling its winter lights display.
Over 225,000 lights will be on display throughout the Sun Garden, Children's Garden, and sections of the outdoor gardens. For this year's display, there will be a lighted nature motif and a new dancing light show performance.
Inside the Botanical Center, there will also be hot chocolate and treats available to purchase.
The Center is also bringing back the adults-only Lights and Flights promotion after the lighting ceremony takes place.
Admission into the Botanical Center is $10 for adults, $6 for children 2 to 15 years old, and children under 2 get in for free.
Teen's Friendsgiving
The East Moline Library is hosting a Thanksgiving fest for teenagers in the area.
Festivities start at 4 p.m. on Nov. 17 and will include games and crafts along with tasty food.
This event is geared toward children who are in sixth to twelfth grade, and teens must register to attend. To hold a place in this year's Friendsgiving, just call the East Moline Library at 309-755-9614.
