ROCK ISLAND, Ill. — Learn about history from the perspective of Black Hawk, the Native American leader who defied U.S. territory claims, with historian and storyteller Brian "Fox" Ellis at Rock Island Public Library's Watts-Midtown Branch.
In his "Black Hawk's View of American History" program, Ellis will share the legends, songs and dances that tell the story of the leader of the Sauk and Fox. The program will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 8 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The event is free, does not require registration and is suitable for all ages.
Ellis has been telling stories for more than 35 years and is an internationally acclaimed author, storyteller, historian and naturalist. He has written 16 books and has worked with the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum and the Field Museum.
