ALTOONA, Iowa — Adventureland is making spooky season more accessible with a sensory-friendly haunted house hour on Sunday, Oct. 22 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The park's "mAlice in Wonderland" haunted house will have reduced light and noise levels to make the attraction comfortable for those with sensory needs, according to a press release.
Adventureland teamed up with Best Buddies of Iowa, an organization offering one-to-one friendships, job placements, leadership training and inclusive living to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Hours at Adventureland are expanding starting this weekend for its Halloween Phantom Fall Fest. The event features four new scare zones, four haunted houses and night rides on roller coasters. Until the end of October, Adventureland will be open Fridays from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., Saturdays from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Sundays from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets can be found on their website.
