Election Results: Illinois and Iowa 2024 General Election | Nov. 5, 2024

News 8 is tracking results from the 2024 General Election, which officially takes place on Nov. 5. In many states, early voting has already opened for residents. 

The race that Americans across the nation are watching is the race for president. On the GOP ticket are former President Donald Trump and Sen. JD Vance from Ohio. Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz are running on the Democratic side.

• Illinois’ 17th Congressional District: Incumbent Democrat Eric Sorensen against Republican challenger Joe McGraw

• Iowa's 1st Congressional District: Incumbent Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks against Democratic challenger Christina Bohannan
