Deputy catches one of two fleeing burglars in Taylor Ridge, second still at large

The Rock Island County Sheriff’s Office apprehended a woman and are looking for a man after receiving a report of a residential burglary in Taylor Ridge.

TAYLOR RIDGE, Illinois -- The Rock Island County Sheriff's Office apprehended a woman and are looking for a man after receiving a report of a residential burglary in Taylor Ridge.

The Sheriff's Office said they received the call at about 3:04 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17. When a deputy arrived at the scene, he saw two suspects fleeing the area. The deputy was able to chase down and catch the female suspect. During the apprehension, the woman resisted to such a degree that a shot was fired from the deputy's weapon. The shot did not strike either the deputy of the suspect.

The woman was taken into custody and jailed at the Rock Island County facility on charges of residential burglary and attempting to disarm a peace officer.

The incident is still under investigation.
